Moving to Tasmania in the early 80's, Rod met with cornetist Len Bagnall and joined "Dr Jazz" to play banjo/bass guitar for several years. When Dr Jazz disbanded, three of the Dr Jazz muso's formed the piano trio "The PeerSpots" in the mid 80's, with Allan Pearce on piano, Steve Hill on drums and Rod on bass guitar. Their style ranged from jazz to contemporary pop music.
In the mid 90's, while working overseas, Rod formed the "Ladzabak" to play the expatriate circuit in Kuala Lumpur.
